Image processing

When you select an HEIC or HEIF file, the converter reads and processes that file on your device using browser features such as WebAssembly, Web Workers, canvas encoding, and temporary object URLs. Your selected images and the converted JPG data are not uploaded to the heic-to-jpg.io application server.

The output remains in browser memory until you download it, reset the converter, close the tab, or the browser releases the page. The converter revokes temporary preview URLs during reset and page unload to help free memory.

External resources

The page loads the Lato typeface from Google Fonts. After you add files, it downloads pinned versions of the HEIC decoder, ZIP utility, and download helper from public content delivery networks. Those network requests fetch program code; the converter does not attach your selected image data to them.

As with ordinary web requests, infrastructure and resource providers may receive technical request information such as an IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, and timestamp. Their handling of that data is governed by their own policies.

EXIF metadata

Photos may contain camera details, capture dates, and GPS coordinates. If Keep EXIF is enabled, the converter attempts to copy compatible metadata into the JPG. Preservation is best effort because HEIC files can store metadata differently. Turn the option off if you do not want the converter to try carrying metadata into the output.

Accounts, uploads, and storage

The converter does not require an account and does not provide cloud storage. We do not ask for your name or email address to convert a file. There is no server-side image library attached to your visit.

Changes to this page

The policy may be updated if the tool’s data flow or third-party resources change. The update date at the top of this page will change when the text is revised. If privacy is your primary concern, you can also inspect your browser’s network panel while converting to confirm that the selected file is not sent in a request.

Using the tool

By using the site, you understand that conversion occurs on your device and that performance depends on your browser, available memory, and the source file. You are responsible for files you choose to process and download.
